Who’s the MCW team? The MCW team consists of the cofounders of Twin Cities Climate Collaborative (TC3) — Cam Popp and Rohan Bhatia, along with many supporting organizations from Structure Climate to Sustain Studio to Heartseed Creative. MCW also has an advisory committee of folks across the metro that representing a broad mixture of local organizations from local government to tribal nations to corporate sustainability.
What can I expect from my team? What’s the vibe? Relationships first. Early on, you’ll spend real time getting to know your teammates, because good teams are built on trust. You’ll get a lot of support at the start, with the MCW team in your meetings helping you set goals. Over time we step back and the team runs itself. Accountability comes from your teammates: each week, everyone shares their commitments and reports back on last week’s.
How often will we connect as a team? Weekly. Plan to make at least 3 meetings a month. Between meetings, your team will coordinate on Minneapolis Climate Week Slack.
Do I need climate experience? No. We need people who are organized, curious, kind, and reliable. You’ll learn the climate side as you go.
Is this paid? Nope. The MCW team is unpaid too, for now. Nevertheless, we’ll work to make it worth your time!
Can I do both a planning team and the week-of crew? Yes. Choose “Both” on the form. Most planning team members will probably help during the week anyway.
What if my life changes and I need to step back? It happens. Tell your team and the MCW team as early as you can, and help hand off your work. No guilt.
Can I switch teams? After your first month, yes, if there’s room. Talk to Cam or Rohan.
I’m a student. Can this count for class credit or an internship? Possibly. Tell us what your school needs and we’ll see what we can do.
What happens after Minneapolis Climate Week 2027? We start planning MCW 2028 and keep connecting with people across the Twin Cities metro in the meantime. At the three-month mark, you choose whether to stay on.
What if I’m not selected for a planning team? We’ll offer you a spot on the week-of crew and put you on the waitlist. We expect to open applications again ⚠️ in spring 2027.
Who do I ask about something else? [email protected]. We’re a small team, so give us a couple of days.
Volunteer applications close November 3rd at 11:59pm.
