As part of the planning team or the week-of crew, I agree to:

  1. **Follow the MCW code of conduct** at every meeting, event, and online space.
  2. Honor the planning team’s six core values.
  3. Show up as committed. Expectations are outlined below.
  4. Speak up early if my availability changes, so my team can plan around it.
  5. Remember the events belong to their hosts. We’re here to help hosts. We don’t speak for them, and we don’t make promises on behalf of MCW or TC3 unless we’ve checked first.
  6. Respect privacy. Contact info, sponsor conversations, and anything shared in confidence stay inside the team.
  7. Step back gracefully if I need to or circumstances change. That means a heads-up and a handoff, not disappearing.

Expectations for Planning Teams

Here’s exactly what we’re asking for. If something doesn’t fit, tell us before you apply. We’d rather work it out now.

The ask
Commitment At least 3 months, which gets you through Minneapolis Climate Week 2027. Ideally 6 months, which gets you through the wrap-up and the start of MCW 2028.
Hours At least 3 hours a week. No more than 6 hours a week.
Team size 3–5 people. Each team sets its own goals.
Meetings Your team meets weekly. Plan to make at least 3 of those meetings each month. We’ll work around Thanksgiving, winter break, and other holidays. Meetings will be only as long as they need to be, and will tend to online.
Weekly commitments Every week, each person says what they’ll get done. The next week, you report back.
Between meetings You’ll keep in touch with your team on MCW Slack. Expect to check in a few times a week.
The mindset Treat this like a part-time job you care about. Show up, communicate, and follow through.
The baseline Follow the code of conduct and the team agreements.

Honest note: This is unpaid. (So is the MCW team, for now.) We’ll never pretend otherwise, and we’ll do our best to make it worth your time.
